Abstract
“So helpful, especially writing out the story of your paper and how it’s beneficial.”
Writing high-quality research papers early in your academic career can feel a formidable challenge. This workshop aims to make that process easier. You’ll learn how to showcase your research in way that demonstrates originality, significance and rigour – and is enticing to editors and readers alike. This will be a practical workshop in which I’ll guide you through a few thinking/writing exercises that you can apply to your own research topic. If you have an idea for a paper already - great. Alternatively, you could also try the exercises on your thesis as a whole.
By the end of the workshop, you should be better able to:
• Write muscular statements that clearly convey the originality, significance and rigour of your research.
• Craft a clear and compelling title and abstract.
• Target your research and your writing to the correct journal and audience.
