This workshop will introduce the benefits of engaging in pedagogic research for both students and staff. Workshop 2 : Setting a Good Research Question – Finding Answers for Teaching and Learning Impact
Speaker: Dr. Paul CHIN, Head of Learning and Teaching, Centre for Learning & Teaching, University of Bath, United Kingdom
Title: Setting a Good Research Question – Finding Answers for Teaching and Learning Impact
Abstract: Whether we realise it or not, we often engage in scholarly research by asking ourselves questions about the effectiveness of our teaching – am I making a difference? The challenge in answering these questions is how we clearly define a research question that we can effectively investigate and then how to plan the research. Defining a good research question just takes a little practice and is helped greatly by collaborating with colleagues. It also benefits from an understanding of how to approach scholarly research. This workshop will help you consider how you can create a good research question for your teaching, what possible research methodologies you might consider and how to collaborate with colleagues to share good practice.
